My first volunteering adventure is in Kenya at Great Mercy:
Great Mercy school center offers education for primary school to high school students. It is a community-run school providing education to orphans and other children from disadvantaged backgrounds. They have over 150 pupils and students, both girls and boys, aged between 2 and 17 years old. The school is run on Christian principles, and accepts children regardless of their religion, tribe, ethnicity, or political background.
The children’s center is a solace for orphaned, abandoned, and vulnerable children. The school’s plan is to provide these children with shelter, food, education, and training until they reach the age of eighteen.
Great Mercy also has a community outreach program to help vulnerable widows who are living with H.I.V./AIDS. They are training the women in entrepreneurship to empower them to help provide food for their children.
