Please Help Support my Travels to Kenya and Tanzania, Africa
I have always had a passion for positively influencing others’ lives. I chose teaching as my profession because I couldn’t picture myself enjoying anything else more! I love everything about working with children. I love the spontaneity, the creativity, and the impact I have. I knew that becoming a teacher was a guaranteed way to impact not only the children of today, but also the future. After I have completed one year of teaching English to students in South Korea, I am driven to teach students in Africa. I believe that teaching in Kenya and Tanzania will be the perfect opportunity to continue my mission to touch students’ lives and be influential to students that truly need impacting.
I am motivated to be a volunteer teacher in Africa for many reasons. When thinking of volunteering, I don’t just consider it as something to do for people who are not as fortunate as me, I think of it as an exchange. I think about everything that I receive when I give and it’s these benefits that drive me to volunteer teach. I am motivated to have an impact on the community, to feel proud of myself and what I have achieved, and mainly to learn something about an unknown culture. I look forward to seeing the benefits blossom for the students of Great Mercy, Great Vision, and me.
I have grown leaps and bounds living overseas in Korea, yet there are still a few goals that I desire to achieve. By volunteering with these two schools, I hope to expand my knowledge of Africa, gain more experience in teaching, and increase my personal satisfaction through helping others. Traveling in Africa is a goal that I have had since I was a little girl. I have always dreamed of going on a safari and seeing the many animals that inhabit Sub-Saharan Africa. I am thrilled to have the chance to get to know two different African communities better. I also believe that teaching in Kenya and Tanzania will be an amazing opportunity for me to help students that are truly grateful for learning. Although these are just a few goals I hope to attain while teaching in Africa, I have a feeling that I will leave achieving many more lifelong goals.
